Volcanic eruption in Vatnajökull glacier
On saturday, 21. of May, an volcanic eruption began in Grímsvötn, a volcano in the glacier Vatnajökull. The plume reached about 20.000 metres/60,000 feet during the first day of the eruption resulting in quite some ash fall on the glacier. The glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón got its share of this. Here are some images taken on the 25th. of May of surrounding glacier outlets and of the lagoon itself. The icebergs turned black but eventually they will roll over and lose their ash cover.
